Word stress is saying one syllable in a word louder and longer than the others.

📝 Basic Rules

  • Nouns (2 syllables): Usually stress on the first syllable.
    • TA-ble, WA-ter
  • Verbs (2 syllables): Usually stress on the second syllable.
    • re-LAX, be-GIN
