Basic Irregular Verbs
Unlike regular verbs that end in -ed in the past (like liked, worked), irregular verbs have special forms. You need to memorize them!
Common A1 Irregular Verbs
Here are some of the most important ones:
1. Make (Hacer / Crear)
We use make when we create or produce something.
- Infinitive: Make
- Past Simple: Made
- Past Participle: Made
Examples:
- I make breakfast every morning. (Present)
- She made a cake yesterday. (Past)
- We have made a decision. (Perfect)
2. Do (Hacer / Realizar)
We use do for general activities, work, or tasks.
- Infinitive: Do
- Past Simple: Did
- Past Participle: Done
Examples:
- I do my homework.
- He did a great job.
3. Go (Ir)
- Infinitive: Go
- Past Simple: Went
- Past Participle: Gone
Examples:
- I go to school by bus.
- They went to the cinema last night.
4. Have (Tener)
- Infinitive: Have
- Past Simple: Had
- Past Participle: Had
Examples:
- I have a car.
- We had a great time at the party.
