Basic Irregular Verbs

Unlike regular verbs that end in -ed in the past (like liked, worked), irregular verbs have special forms. You need to memorize them!

Common A1 Irregular Verbs

Here are some of the most important ones:

1. Make (Hacer / Crear)

We use make when we create or produce something.

  • Infinitive: Make
  • Past Simple: Made
  • Past Participle: Made

Examples:

  • I make breakfast every morning. (Present)
  • She made a cake yesterday. (Past)
  • We have made a decision. (Perfect)

2. Do (Hacer / Realizar)

We use do for general activities, work, or tasks.

  • Infinitive: Do
  • Past Simple: Did
  • Past Participle: Done

Examples:

  • I do my homework.
  • He did a great job.

3. Go (Ir)

  • Infinitive: Go
  • Past Simple: Went
  • Past Participle: Gone

Examples:

  • I go to school by bus.
  • They went to the cinema last night.

4. Have (Tener)

  • Infinitive: Have
  • Past Simple: Had
  • Past Participle: Had

Examples:

  • I have a car.
  • We had a great time at the party.
